COLLEGE OF THE CROSSROADS is a Mystery School dedicated to teaching Witchcraft as a pre-Christian European Mystery Tradition. It was founded in 2003 by Raven Grimassi and co-director Rasenna Elvenstar. ,,Raven Grimassi is a practicing Witch with over 30 years of experience, and is an initiate of both northern and southern European traditions. He is also an award-winning author of nine books on Wicca and Witchcraft.,,Rasenna Elvenstar is a professional Tarot reader and Astrologer, as well as a High Priestess in Celtic and Italian Witchcraft. ,,The College is located on approximately four acres of secluded property in a rural area of southern California. The expansive plans for the College include student housing and expanded teaching facilities. The College offers weekend retreats, workshops, and seminars. Our primary purpose is to teach the Priestesshood and Priesthood of Witchcraft in order to help prepare men and women to improve their working knowledge and community service skills. The curriculum is focused on a study of Craft myth and legend, as well as mythological interpretation in general. Part of the program is centered on personal teaching skills, people skills, and group dynamics.,,The College of the Crossroads also offers a full curriculum of study in Witchcraft. The Course is focused on the ancient roots of Witchcraft that preexist the origins of modern Witchcraft and Wicca. The curriculum includes techniques for self-empowerment, Nature veneration, ritual & magical arts, and the study of authentic forms of the associated occult arts.,,Each Course offered by the College of the Crossroads includes a certificate of completion, and a certificate of appreciation for supporting the school. Raven Grimassi - author
I first began writing Witchcraft and Wicca material for the public in 1979. At this time I was the editor and contributing writer for a magazine called The Shadow's Edge. Over the following two decades this magazine evolved into different magazines, one called Moon Shadows, and another called Raven's Call. Raven's Call magazine was discontinued in 2001.,,In the early 1980s I produced two self-published books through Nemi Enterprises, titled the Book of the Holy Strega, and The Book of Ways (a two volume set). These early works are now out-of-print and unavailable. In the early 1990s I produced two booklets through Moon Dragon Publications, titled The Teachings of the Holy Strega, and Whispers; Teachings of the Old Religion of Italy. These works are also out-of-print and unavailable.,,In 1994 Llewellyn Publications accepted my manuscript for Ways of the Strega, which was then published in 1995. The book was later re-titled Italian Witchcraft, and with a new chapter and expanded material throughout the book it was released in 2000. I wrote Ways of the Strega/Italian Witchcraft in order to fill a void. Prior to this book there were few books on Witchcraft and Wicca that contained material for people of non-Celtic lineage, or for those interested in southern European systems. While I seem to be best known for writing about Italian Witchcraft, this topic is represented in only two of the nine books I have in print today. My other titles deal with the core commonality of Witchcraft and Wicca without any specific cultural representation..,,I hope you will take some time and look around the website. Italian witches, known as Strega, walk the path of the Old Religion. They are the witches of Old Italy. In 1890, folklorist Charles Leland published a book titled ARADIA; GOSPEL OF THE WITCHES. Although it was typical in many ways of the distorted Christian image of Witchcraft of this period, we do find several things of interest. In Leland's book, Italian witches worship a goddess and a god, meet for full moon rituals and celebrate with singing, dancing and making love. Their celebration also includes a feast containing cakes and wine. In 1609, Francesco Guazzo published several woodcuts in his book Compendium Maleficarum. One of these Italian woodcuts depicts witches gathered inside a circle drawn upon the ground. In 1954, Gerald Gardner describes English Witchcraft in very much the same way.
